Sea glass inspiration, Sea glass palette, seaglass tile, Undecorate by Christiane Lemieux

A while ago I caught the end of Sarah Richardson’s cottage makeover show and fell in love with many elements of the design.  The dining room above is filled with pale blues and greens popped with pattern and details.  This palette was extended into the kitchen and anchored with the small scale blue and green backsplash tiles.

Since Sarah Richardson’s cottage is on an island it was inspired by the coastal surroundings.  Not necessarily a new idea, but surely you can agree that it was executed beautifully.  (Definitely check out the rest of the cottage!)  If you aren’t a professional interior designer or don’t live by the sea, then you’ll need tangible inspiration . . . sea glass.

A sea glass inspired color palette has to be one of the most soothing color combinations. Pale greens and blue are predominant, and when used strategically can pop in an interior.   I found a couple of examples of this literally translated . . .

Sea glass tiled shower . . .

DIY sea glass tiled table . . .

and, upcycled sea glass dinnerware.

If you are fortunate to live by the sea, then a beautiful display of sea glass might be used in a vignette in your home.

If your style isn’t beachy, then do not fear.  This palette can also be used in very modern ways.

And, just to complete this photo montage, the cover of Undecorate by Christiane Lemieux is staring at me from my coffee table.  This is the perfect, subtle use of the sea glass palette.  Enjoy!
