If you frequent yard sales or happen to be in the Northeast to shop at Brimfield (which happens to be going on while we speak!), then you should consider the trendy dip-dyed furniture leg DIY. I found the image above from Better Homes and Gardens a while back and was immediately struck by the possibilities: a great way to clean up marks on wooden furniture legs but with a twist; a perfect way to modernize a traditional chair; or an opportunity to introduce color into a space without a big commitment.
A quick search yielded me a couple of great, easy examples of DIY dip-dyed furniture legs:
Svalbo table dipped in Behr’s Juicy Passionfruit to make a great entry table . . .
this Ikea Aalto stool looks more intersesting with a dip in turquoise paint and can be tucked anywhere . . .
or, this side table dipped to extend the navy and white theme in any room.
This got me thinking. Are there ready made items in the market place for those of us out of time or talent for this DIY? After falling in love with the color-tipped cutting boards, surely there have to be more ways I can introduce this trend into my home. I found the rustic dip-dyed stool at Serena & Lily below as well as a couple other pieces that would be versatile in many spaces.
And, if dip-dying your furniture seems a little far fetched, then consider other items in your home. DIY Dip-Dyed Wooden Utensils is one of my favorite DIY projects that brings color into your kitchen quickly.
You can also dip-dye your favorite baskets for a refreshed look.
Certainly dip-dying may not be for everyone, but it is on trend and so easy. Maybe you could dip-dye your tablecloth for a twist on your next tablescape?!
