"Blue Ball" jars, Blue Mason Jar centerpieces, City Farmhouse Antique, Etsy, vintage aqua Mason Jar, white Ironstone china, white tablescapes

On a search for vintage goodies on Etsy, I found the City Farmhouse Antique shop.  My first clue that I had found treasures was the list of categories:  Antiques, Primitives, Vintage, Industrial and Home Goods.  Intriguing, yes?!  My second clue, and confirmation that the categories were genuine, was the stack of “Blue Ball” pint size mason jars above.  (Remember how beautiful the pink peony looked in the aqua mason jar?!)

In addition to an offering of vintage “Blue Ball” jars – if you buy any of these and style a vignette, please send pictures! – there is also a range of white Ironstone china.  Another item from an era gone by that I am starting to see more often.  This vintage white dish ware is perfect for entertaining because you can use any napkin, tablecloth or flower arrangement to dress your table and not be directed by the color of the plate.  Also, if your plating presentation is amazing, then the plate’s color or pattern doesn’t compete.

Imagine if you will, the “blue ball” mason jars with the white Ironstone china (or any white table ware) on a table setting . . .

If you love vintage treasures, then the City Farmhouse Antique shop is a great resource for you.  There are antique mantle clocks, wooden egg crates, galvanized steel items and more.  These Mother of Pearl and Sterling Crab and Oyster Knives below would also look stunning on your next tablescape.  Enjoy!

cotton napkins, Etsy, Printing Grounds

I am always looking for great napkins and tea towels to make entertaining fun and exciting.  The Printing Grounds is a little Etsy shop that has a wide variety of both with great playful designs printed on cotton or linen or both!  The orange dandelion printed napkins above are cheery and the expressions on the napkins below are whimsical.  (Not for your formal dinner parties!)

And if you have enough napkins in your party closet, then consider more tea towels.  I never have enough.  Depending on the season, the guests and other factors, it is always great to have a freshly ironed stack of towels at the ready.

Printing Grounds has a great selection of napkins, tea towels and more, so be sure to update your linens with one of these hand printed goodies.

Lighting is always a challenge, but Zipper8Lighting has infused a little fun and artistry into this category.  The upcycle of old book pages for the Artichoke pendant above makes this perfect for a nook in a library – a little whimsy for a serious space! – or a mudroom or a kids room.

In addition to the unique use of materials, I love the way the light is diffused.  Depending on the type of bulb you use, this could be a crisp, cool white glow for a white interior, or a warm, soft accent in a colorful space.  Allison Patrick’s architecture background is surely the key to these sculptural works of art, so be sure to visit her shop on Etsy to see more of her great lighting solutions.

As you know Etsy is filled with a plethora of wonderful hand-made goodies, and this week we wanted to share a local favorite:  Willywaw.  Ashley Van Etten’s studio is over the bridge from Newport, RI in Narragansett and it is an inspiring space to visit as well as shop.  The Argonauta pillow above is one of many hand screen printed pillow covers that are now available on-line in addition to tea towels, totes, notecards and more.

Since all of the screen printing is done by hand at the studio, Willywaw is able to customize their designs to suit your decor.  A friend’s porch was in need of navy and white pillows to complete the design, and look what Ashley created!  I think the seaweed pillow is my favorite, but gather Sarah wants the whale pillow.

In addition to Willywaw’s Etsy shop, there are Open Studio days on the first Sunday of every month as well as a market stall on Saturday’s at the Winter Coastal Growers Farmers Market.  Willywaw – named after the ferocious arctic winds that sweep down coastal mountains and blow onto the ocean – is sure to inspire all to bring a touch of inspired nature into your decor.

Modernality 2 has made shopping by color and pattern easy by providing these pillow grids in addition to color categories.  Colors range from yellow to orange to navy to grey and more.  And, pillow covers are offered in 12×16, 12×18, 14×14, 16×16 inch, 18×18 inch, and 20×20 inch sizes with customization is available.  Enjoy and shop away!

As you know, we love vintage goodies here at Chateau & Bungalow.  And, this week I stumbled upon bellalulu‘s shop to discover a range of vintage objets that satiated my desire for the unusual mixed with funky function.  After making a quick wish list, I realized that Amy’s color inspiration was being channeled:  red was popping!  The vintage Kodak Timer above would be great for the kitchen, but also fun in a kid’s room.  How about a set of vintage game balls (below) placed in a clear glass bowl as a festive centerpiece, or nestle the balls in the galvanized bucket out in the backyard?  In addition to these beautiful red treasures, be sure to check out all of the vintage finds at bellalulu.

Often it takes a while to navigate through all the great Etsy shops to find something you haven’t seen.  This week I got lucky and found this Skelton Key Plate and more at Sweet Meas!  This is a salvaged historic Syracuse China plate with the skelton key graphic applied for a twist.  This is one of many plates that would be great in the kitchen or breakfast nook or party closet for a little shabby chic fun.

The Sweet Meas shop has a plethora of vintage plates, jars, hand towels, signs and buttons; all vintage finds that Sarah Meas has artistically reinvented.  For our mason jar fans, there is also a varied collection from large jars to small tinted jars.  So playful and useful!

Sometimes something is so good that it keeps popping up and needs to be blogged about again.  The Pelle Bubble Chandelier is one such objet (x-large above!).  Back in 2010 when Sarah found this chandelier on Etsy there were only two size options to choose from, but now there are more sizes, finishes and cording options which must been seen!  The original bubble chandelier was the medium size, but now there is a small, large, x-large and jumbo.

In addition to the original bubble chandler, there is the elongated tall version as well as multiple gold leafed versions.  Each configuration of bubbles creates an amazing sculptural piece for any space.

If you love these chandeliers, then be sure to visit either the Pelle website or their brick-and-mortar shop in Brooklyn, NY to see more of their collections.  Jean and Oliver Pelle are a talented design duo that create unique lighting, furniture, jewelry and more for beautiful interiors.  And, my favorite part about the history of this chandelier is that it’s origins are a do-it-yourself project that Jean contributed to Readymade Magazine in 2008 . . .  great design is possible with DIY!
